CD FRONT COVER

I used Photoshop to edit my CD front cover. Using the magic wand tool, I was able to take out most of the background from the original photo copy. However, the magic wand tool was not successful in completely removing the background from the edges of my photo; therefore, I had to use the magnetic lasso tool to cut out around my photo and blend the edges to achieve a clean finish of my cut out photo. Moving on, I wanted my lip colour to be my key star persona; therefore, I cut out my lips using the lasso tool creating a mask on it and then selected a vibrant more saturated red lip colour. I then felt as though the photo needed an effect to it, which is where I got my inspiration from Rihanna’s album cover-to make my photo into a black and white effect. As you can see the black and white effect here make Rihanna’s make up, her lips and eyeliner, and her rings, stand out. I then played around with the colour corrector changing the different tones of the separate colours in my image, such as the yellows and whites and blacks to create my desired black and white look. I wanted a background that mostly matched the black and white and didn’t want it to take away too much attention from the main image, which was myself and my lips. Hence why I chose a pastel grey coloured background, which I felt blended well with the effect of my photo. The font I chose from ‘Dafont’ is very basic, which I feel gives a profession finish to the album cover, adding to its simplicity and not being too over the top.In my album cover, I stuck to the conventional feminist representation with the use of make up. This sexualises my image, applying to the male gaze, opening my target audience to a wider audience in a males perspective.
